Con la vittoria di The life of Chuck cala il sipario sulla 49a edizione del TIFF – Toronto International Film Festival. Allo sci-fi dramma con protagonista Tom Hiddleston è andato il People’s Choice Award, il prestigioso premio del pubblico. Basato sul racconto breve di Stephen King, contenuto nella raccolta If It Bleeds del 2020, il film segue le vicende di Charles ‘Chuck’ Krantz: un contabile ebreo la cui vita viene raccontata in ordine cronologico inverso, partendo con la morte precoce del protagonista, a soli 39 anni, per un tumore al cervello, fino ad arrivare alla sua infanzia trascorsa in quella che sembrerebbe una casa infestata. Scrive e dirige Mike Flanagan, maestro del genere horror, che ha già adattato le opere del Re del Maine sullo schermo, come Doctor Sleep e Il Gioco di Gerald.
