Tutto pronto per la 43ª edizione degli MTV Video Music Awards, che torna con una nuova serata all’insegna delle grandi star della musica. A contendersi l’iconica statuetta a forma di Moon Person ci sono alcuni dei nomi più importanti del pop, con Madonna in testa alla classifica delle nomination.
La Regina del Pop ha ottenuto 13 candidature, mentre Taylor Swift ne ha conquistate 11, seguita da Sabrina Carpenter con 9 e Ariana Grande con 8. Tra gli artisti pluricandidati figurano anche Bruno Mars, PinkPantheress, Zara Larsson, Kentaro Sakaguchi, Lisa, Shakira, Tate McRae, Gener8ion e Yung Lean.
A rendere ancora più attesa la serata è il ritorno sul palco dei VMAs di Madonna, che aprirà lo show per la prima volta in 23 anni.

Gli MTV Video Music Awards 2026 andranno in onda in diretta domenica 27 settembre alle 20:00 ET.
Dove si svolgono?
Dopo l’edizione 2025 alla UBS Arena di Elmont, New York, quest’anno i VMAs si spostano sulla West Coast.
La cerimonia si terrà al Peacock Theater di Los Angeles.
Come vedere gli MTV VMAs 2026
La cerimonia sarà trasmessa in contemporanea su:

- Paramount+, dove sarà disponibile anche lo streaming live.
Una replica degli MTV VMAs sarà disponibile dal giorno successivo su Paramount+ e MTV.
In Italia, invece, lo spettacolo verrà trasmesso lunedì 28 settembre a partire dalle 21:00 su MTV Italia (canali Sky 131 e Sky Glass 122, oltre al live streaming su NOW). Se non doveste riuscire a sintonizzarvi non preoccupatevi: lo spettacolo sarà poi trasmesso anche alle 22:45 su Comedy Central (canale 129 di Sky e 121 di Sky Glass, sempre in streaming su NOW), per poi entrare a far parte del catalogo di Paramount+.

È uno dei momenti più attesi della serata.
Madonna sarà la performer d’apertura degli MTV VMAs 2026, segnando il suo ritorno live sul palco della manifestazione dopo 23 anni.
La sua ultima esibizione ai VMAs risale infatti al 2003, quando la Regina del Pop fece la storia della cerimonia baciando sul palco Britney Spears e Christina Aguilera.

Taylor Swift riceverà un nuovo premio
Taylor Swift sarà protagonista di uno dei momenti speciali della serata.
L’artista riceverà infatti il primo MTV VMA Artist Director Honors, un nuovo riconoscimento destinato agli artisti che, attraverso il proprio lavoro dietro la macchina da presa, hanno ampliato le possibilità del videoclip musicale e contribuito allo sviluppo dello storytelling visivo.
Il premio arriva pochi giorni dopo l’uscita di The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, che contiene quattro nuove canzoni.
Il Video Vanguard Award va ai Nirvana
Il Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award 2026 sarà assegnato ai Nirvana, in riconoscimento del loro impatto sulla musica e sulla cultura pop.
La band fece il suo debutto sul palco dei VMAs nel 1992, esibendosi con Lithium. Nel corso della loro carriera, i Nirvana hanno conquistato cinque VMAs.
Il cantante e frontman Kurt Cobain è morto suicida nell’aprile 1994.
MTV ha annunciato il riconoscimento il 9 settembre, ricordando proprio la storica apparizione della band ai VMAs del 1992 e il suo impatto sulla musica, sulla cultura e sulla stessa MTV.
Kacey Musgraves rende omaggio a Dolly Parton
Tra i momenti speciali della serata ci sarà anche un tributo a Dolly Parton.
A renderle omaggio sarà Kacey Musgraves, con una performance dedicata all’icona della musica country.
Per Musgraves sarà inoltre la prima esibizione sul palco dei VMAs dopo cinque anni.
